AKPESSC’20

The Power and Energy Society Kerala Chapter  hosted its most prestigious event All Kerala Power and Energy Society Students Colloquium (AKPESSC 20) on 4-7th december 2020.

The four day event aimed at the technical moulding up of students to make them more skill Oriented and the Colloquium succeed in completing its mission.

Day 1

The first day started off with the  workshop on “PES Resource center” by Er.Juan Carlos Montero Q( V.P, M&I, IEEE PES) really poured up the knowledge to the attendees. With all the presentations and explanations the workshop made a huge insight in students about the resources available.

As the workshop got over by 6:30PM we started the inaugural ceremony .Er. Ajith Gopi, Student representative,  IEEE PES Kerala Chapter  delivered the welcome speech where he wholeheartedly welcomed all the respectable dignitaries , delegates and volunteers to the dream event. Followed by that Er.Suhair AK , Chairperson of IEEE PES Kerala Chapter delivered the presidential address. The honorable guest of the event Prof. Frank Lambert went on with his inaugural speech. The chairman of Centre for Environment and Development Prof. V K Damodaran greeted the audience followed by Er. Suhair A K, the chairman of IEEE PES Kerala Chapter, Dr. Shoba Manakkal vice chairperson of IEEE PES Kerala Chapter, Dr. Boby philip , Secretary IEEE PES Kerala Chapter,Prof.Muhammed kasim S sir Chairperson IEEE educational activities kerala , chapter advisor, Er. Anandhu S Kumar delivered their felicitations.Ms. Hamna Sunil Wip Student representative, IEEE PES Kerala Chapter stood up to talk about AKPESSC in detail. Mr. Nithin V M Student representative of IEEE PES Kerala Chapter delivered the vote of thanks.

Day 2

Day 2 started with a Virtual Industrial Visit taken by Dr. Ajith Gopi sir. He took the delegates through several industries virtually. He went into the 2MW solar PV system at Kuzhalmannam.Spoke about the interiors of the industry through a video lecture. spoke about the solar and wind Hybrid system in Tanzania., solar PV system at agali, palakkad and lot more.  The visit was informative and exciting.

The session by Er. Shyam Pradeep Alil on the “Entrepreneurship; Plights and Flights” was another gain for the delegates. In the talk he spoke about his own life journey to success.The journey from his meeting with Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam sir to starting a startup was really an insight for the delegates. He also introduced the participants to the new product of his startup (Infusory) “tutAR” which is a teaching app using AR. The session was followed by a panel discussion on “Power Engineers; Contributions and life experiences” conducted by many dignitaries. In that one hour of valuable discussion, Prof. V K Damodaran was the moderator who spoke about his journey through all those industrial revolutions. Following him Dr. P S Chandramohan Nair and Prof . Muhammed Kasim spoke about  the academic perspective. Er. Suhair A K spoke about the Industrial perspective. Their travel through the advancements in industries helped them to realise what they need to do to build up a technically equipped society and it made the panel discussion more informative and interesting.

Day 3

Third day was filled with various talks conducted by legendaries. The day began with a talk on “Potential for digital twin technology in the power and energy sector” by Er. Jayakrishnan Divakaran. The talk really poured up the knowledge to the attendees. Many details like Importance of implementing digital twins, the technical aspects,  relevance, and the dependence of companies on digital twin were discussed throughout the session.

The talk by Rishab Biswas on “Data Science”  was an effective session that could build up knowledge on the technical side. The session delivered detailed knowledge regarding how data science is used in power electronics, its relevance and future scope. The session was successful in building up a clear view on the difference between data analysts and data scientists. He also spoke about various platforms and also shared  his own journey through them.

The main attraction of the day, the “Panel discussion on Green Energy”, grabbed the attention of all the delegates because of the expert speakers including Dr. Jayaprakash P, Mr. Vineeth V & Er. Vijayakumar & their productive talk.  Er. Ajith Gopi being the moderator. Another session of the day handled by Er. Suhair AK ,the chairman IEEE PES Kerala Chapter explained the benefits of PES, the needs and relevance of being a member of such a technically focused society.

It was followed by a session on “PES Awards and Reporting” combinedly organized by the student leadership team, IEEE PES Kerala Chapter. The team discussed the membership benefits, different kinds of Reporting like Student Branch Chapter reporting, event reporting, and HPSBCP reporting.

Day 4

 

The final day started off with a fun filled interactive session by IEEE PES Kerala Chapter Student Team with the delegates. The session went on with an introduction of all the team members and funny quizzes. The valedictory function began right after the session. After the heart warming Welcome Address by Dr. Shoba manakkal ,vice-Chair person IEEE PES Kerala Chapter and the insightful presidential address by Dr.A K Suhair sir  the final day of AKPESSC’20 cracked the expectations of delegates with the session by Dr.Thiago Alencar,Chairman,IEEE PES CSAC. He motivated the aspirants through his journey. He made a route to the students and professionals to the vast opportunity that industrial applications society provides. His presence was such a great honour for the event. Er. K P  Harikumar, Treasurer, IEEE PES Kerala Chapter delivered the felicitation. The closing remark was given by Mr. Akshay C, technical coordinator of IEEE PES Kerala Chapter. Mr. Nithin V M Student Representative of IEEE PES Kerala Chapter delivered the vote of thanks. and thereby an official end of AKPESSC-20 was announced.

 

AKPESSC’20 really did what it meant and was intact one of the most successful events for the year 2020 with all the technical packages that could mould up a skilled one to the society.
