WOW 2.0 – Tech Talk: 2 Women in Technology and Leadership

IEEE Power and Energy Society (PES) Kerala Chapter together with IEEE PES Women in Power (WiP) community, organized Women of Wisdom, WOW 2.0, a tech talk series. The second session of WOW 2.0 was held on 16th May 2021 from 7:30 pm to 8:30pm (IST) online using Google Meet platform. The Guest speaker for the session was Ms. Latha Chembrakalam, Vice-President, Robert Bosch Engineering and Business Solutions Ltd. and she shared her experiences on ‘Women in Technology and Leadership’.

The session began with a welcome speech by Prof. Nafeesa Koyisseri (Women in Power Coordinator, IEEE PES Kerala Chapter). She welcomed everyone to the session and shared her positive thoughts for the session with us. The event was also graced by the presence of Er. A K Suhair (Chair, IEEE PES Kerala Chapter), Dr. Boby Philip (Secretary, IEEE PES Kerala Chapter), and Er. K S Saran (Student Activities Coordinator, IEEE PES Kerala Chapter). Ms. Latha Chembrakalam started the session with a brief introduction about herself and gave an insight into her likes, dislikes, and hobbies. She also talked about her career and its growth. She spoke to us about the importance of having a mentor. She also spoke about the hardships she faced in the early stages of her career. She shared her valuable thoughts on topics like team playing and network building. Later on, we had an interactive session wherein, she encouraged us to ask questions about her personal and professional life. The session had around 66 participants and everyone was very enthusiastic to ask questions and clarify their doubts. We received many questions and Ms. Latha answered them with utmost sincerity. The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Devika Muraleedharan (WiP Student Representative, IEEE PES Kerala Chapter).

The session was conducted very successfully and all the participants had very high remarks about the session. Ms. Latha was very cheerful and enthusiastic throughout the session even while she was just recovering from covid and she also encouraged us to organize such events in the future. The organizers received very good feedback about the event.
