As we step into 2025, we renew our commitment to advancing the power and energy sector through professional development, innovation, and community engagement, while addressing one of the most pressing challenges of our time—climate change and its profound impact on our daily lives. The need to develop resilient systems and adopt sustainable, efficient energy practices has never been more urgent. Much of the origins of climate change are rooted in our energy consumption habits, making it imperative for us to rethink and redesign how we generate, distribute, and use energy.
The integration of intermittent renewable energy sources into power grids is becoming a critical aspect of utility operations worldwide. The traditional model of large power plants supplying vast geographic areas is gradually giving way to a more decentralized and democratic grid, where a growing number of consumers with smaller-scale generation capacities are actively participating. While this shift empowers communities, it also brings new challenges, such as managing bidirectional power flows and ensuring grid stability…
